Types of Flatware

Stainless Steel Grades
18/10
This most commonly used stainless steel contains 18% chromium and 10% nickel. It is an austenitic type of stainless steel and so is not attracted by a magnet. The benefits of 18/10 stainless steel include a brilliant luster, rust resistance, durability and easy maintenance.
18/0
18/0 is a ferritic stainless steel type, which is attracted by a magnet, similar to pure iron. Since it contains no nickel, it is most commonly used where corrosion resistance is not a concern.
Construction
Hollow Handle
Seen more often with more decorative flatware, hollow-handle flatware consists of three separate pieces that are constructed into a balanced, lightweight piece.
Forged
Forged flatware is heated, then struck to create simple, clean designs. Forged pieces are comprised of one piece and have a heavier, high-quality feel.
Stamped
Seen more often with cutlery, a stamped piece is created from a single piece of metal for a more solid, hefty feel.
