Airport Tips

First-time or frequent traveler, approaching an airport can be daunting. Follow our airport tips for a less-frenzied flight.

Check your itinerary. The night before a big trip, double check when your flight departs.

Mark your territory. Make sure your luggage tags have your accurate name and home address on them. If they're lost in transit, this will ensure that all your possessions get back to you intact.

Arrive early—two hours, to be exact. Some hubs are busier than others, but if you allow yourself two hours to check in with your airline and locate your terminal and gate, you'll have plenty of time to wind down before the flight.

Check in with your airline. Have your photo ID and flight information out while you're waiting. They'll supply you with your boarding pass. This is also the point where your luggage will be weighed and tagged for flight.

Double-check that your flight is on time. Especially during holidays and when facing harsh weather conditions, flights frequently can be delayed or cancelled.

Practice 3-1-1. Make sure your carry-on luggage follows TSA guidelines to make it through security checkpoints with ease. Each traveler is allowed only one carry-on, so plan accordingly.

Have identification ready at all times. Be prepared to present it at checkpoints.
