Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really Scrapes The Edges Of The Mixing Bowl I wasn't sure that I'd see a big difference between this Flex Edge Beater and the Flat Beater that came with my KitchenAid Stand Mixer, but wow what a difference. The Flex Edge Beater scraped all ingredients from the sides of the bowl that my old Flat Beater used to leave behind. Without having to stop the machine to tilt the head back to manually scrape the bowl, the Flex Edge Beater saves a lot of time & effort. The white powder coating is also nice because things like a sticky bread dough come off much easier than it did the older metal attachments. Glad I purchased this.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Awesome Kitchen Helper I bought this tilt-head flex edge beater for my Aunt who owns am at home bkery. She needed something to get the edges of the bowl clean and this defiantly did the trick. It's easy to attach and gets all of the batter mixed perfectly! I would highly recommend this product for any baker. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Paint chipping, but works great The item works well and am otherwise happy with it. It does scrape the sides well, but does not scrape the center on the bottom of the bowl. However, the white coating is chipping off at the base, where it connects to the Kitchenaid. This worries me bc I obviously do not want paint chipping off into the food I am preparing.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Flex Edge Beater Concerns I purchased this beater about four years ago as a replacement for my original standard beater, when the paint on the original started to crack and peel at the connection point. Recently, the scraper appears to be leaking an oily substance. When I first noticed the problem, I hadn't used my mixer in about three months. The beater was siting in the bowl. There was what appeared to be oil all over the scraper, and a puddle of it in the bottom of the bowl. I thought someone hadn't washed it properly, so I washed it and then used it. I made sure that I washed it, myself, this time to be sure it was done properly. I checked it a week later and found the oily substance on it again. This time I resorted to using my old beater. Thank goodness I kept it as a back-up! I don't know what that oily substance is, but I hope I didn't poison my family by using the beater. I will not buy another scraper style beater. I would also note that I had the same issue another reviewer noted. The scraper had a tendency to flip ingredients out of the bowl, but the splatter shield helped. I also found that the scraper never actually scraped the sides of the bowl. I have a 5 qt model. Perhaps it works better on the 4.5 qt model.
