Rated 4 out of 5 by from Surprisingly solid and nice-looking I weep for anyone complaining the manual was confusing: I didn't even need one to assemble the library properly. Mind you, my parents bought it over 20 years ago and it spent nearly 7 years in storage. I just recently was given it and the one with doors and assembled them back. Everything went smoothly - all the screws are held firmly. What I had to do is to buy new brackets and screws - but turns out the simple ones you can buy in any hardware store are good. Combined with certain Swedish company's LED strips, the library looks very nice. The only complaint I have: the laminate is very prone to damage - even a single grain of sand can do nasty damage. Fortunately this came with a marker to mask out the scratch marks (still works after 20 years).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Its appearance is solid, stable, matured and decent The manufacturer is also very precise and once assembled, it looks no difference than a solid wood shelf.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from NO This is probably the most poorly illustrated and information book I have ever tried to read. I have put quite a few of these bookcases together (not Sauder) and never had the "head-scratching" issues that I had with this particular model. Illustrations are very poor and the step by step directions are vague and leave you guessing. Working with particle board is sensitive enough without making a mistake due to uncertain assembly directions or unclear markings on the pieces.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Instructions I have over twenty pieces of assemble yourself furniture, all of which I have assembled myself or with a friend. Most of them are Sauder and over 15 years old. Sauder has greatly lessened their quality control since I purchased my pieces. The instructions for this bookcase were horrible. No longer does it show by shading which side faces in or out. Several pieces were not even identified by number or letter. No matter how we adjusted the screws and pieces there were still several places that did not meet up perfectly, therefore showing the lighter finish. We had to use the color stain included to even up the finish. Even though I have been satisfied in the past with my Sauder purchases, I doubt I will ever buy another piece of furniture from them.
