Rated 1 out of 5 by from Okay at first I took the advice of other reviewers and made sure it turned on before putting oil in it. Thankfully mine was okay and powered on. However after about two uses, I will be returning this product. 1. The cover no longer fits. It fit before I used it so something with the heat must have warped the plastic and caused the cover not to fit on the unit anymore. 2. When putting frozen food in the basket, the basket tips to one side if the food does not go right in the center of the basket. When the basket tilts to one side it starts frying the food on that side and oil starts splattering. Very poor design.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from To everyone that did not get it to turn on. The heating unit must slide into the black piece on the back. There are two plastic rails that fit together and hold the heating unit on. Otherwise it moves around. It will not turn on if this is not done. Works great once put together!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great! We had a smaller fryer but got rid of it when we moved. Decided to get this one because of the larger basket. I actually love that the basket is shallow and wide, I can spread food out instead of it being piled on top of each other. This one heats up faster than our previous one and cools a lot better too. Glad we went ahead and chose this one.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Functional, Average This fryer is functional, but has a few features that need improvement: 1) the electrical cord plug which attaches to the fryer base is magnetic and easily falls off if the unit is moved or bumped. Thankfully, the fryer has a Power On light, so I could see the unit was not getting power. Just wish the thing plugged in securely and I didn't have to deal with a balancing act when I use it. 2) During the third use of this unit, the print around the temperature control dial began to rub off. I was gently wiping away some condensation with a soft, dry cloth when the print wiped completely off. Fortunately, I could still see the lines for the temperature levels. I took a metallic Sharpie marker, re-drew the lines, and wrote the corresponding temperatures above the lines. The print was apparently affected by the oily steam escaping from under the lid. This is unacceptable and poor quality in my book. 3) The outer compartment in which the oil tank sets seems tinny and lightweight. Not very heavy-duty. The lid also could be of a sturdier construction. Once I get the electrical plug to stay in place and get the oil up to temperature, the fryer works fine. It is nice to have control over the temperature, and the basket allows for easy removal and draining of the food. Clean-up is fairly simple. This was a Christmas gift, so as of Feb 6, I have used it three times. It remains to be seen how this unit will hold up for the long haul.
