Extended Return Policy
Kohl’s is offering an extended return window during the holiday season ensuring you can shop and gift with confidence. Most purchases made Oct. 5, 2025 – Oct. 31, 2025 are eligible for free, in-store returns through January 31, 2026.
Exceptions to this policy:

Sephora at Kohl’s Purchases: Purchases made October 31, 2025 – December 30, 2025 are eligible for return through January 31, 2026.

Premium Electronics and Watches: Purchases made October 5, 2025 – December 30, 2025 are eligible for return through January 31, 2026.
We will always honor the longer return timeframe (extended vs. standard). Please reference your receipt for your specific return eligibility dates.
Standard Return Policy
Kohl’s gladly accepts most returns with or without a receipt.

Items purchased with a Kohl’s Card: You have within 120-days from purchase to make a return.

All other payment types: You have within 90-days from purchase to make a return.
Some items have a shorter return window:
- Premium Electronics and Watches: May be returned within 30 days of purchase with the original packaging and a valid receipt or account lookup.
- Sephora at Kohl’s Purchases: Must be new or gently used and returned within 30 days of purchase, and accompanied by a valid receipt or account lookup. View the complete Sephora at Kohl’s return policy.
- Beverages: Non-refundable and cannot be exchanged.
- Opened or Unsealed Breast Pumps and Accessories: Non-refundable and cannot be exchanged.
- Baby Registry Items: May be returned up to 365 days from purchase with a gift receipt or original receipt. View the complete Baby Registry return policy.
Verification Notice: Returns may be subject to third-party verification and system approval. Your ID information and return history may be collected where permitted by law. Kohl’s reserves the right to limit or refuse refunds.
How to Make a Return
Free In-Store Returns
Returning in-store is the fastest and easiest option. Simply:
- Bring your item(s) to any Kohl’s store.
- Visit the Customer Service counter for assistance.
- Your refund should appear on your credit card within about seven days, but it may take longer depending on your bank’s processing time. For details, please check with your bank.
Most returns are accepted with or without a receipt. Associates can look up your order using:
- Order number
- Kohl’s Rewards account
- Credit card number
- Return barcode in the Kohl’s App
No Receipt?

If you don’t have a receipt and we are unable to look up your purchase, you’ll receive a Kohl’s Merchandise Credit for the lowest discounted 13-week sale price. A valid photo ID may be required.
Items purchased in a store can only be returned at a store— you can’t return these items via mail.
Items delivered via our Threshold Delivery Service can’t be returned in store. If you need to return one of these items, follow the Threshold Return instructions.
Returns by Mail
You can return eligible online Kohl’s purchases by mail. Items purchased in a store may only be returned to the store. Please note:
- Customers are responsible for postage.
- Kohl’s does not provide prepaid return labels.
- Shipping costs and surcharges are non-refundable.
- It may take up to 30 days after we receive your return to process and issue your refund.
- Refunds will be issued to the card used to make your purchase. Merchandise credits will be mailed to the billing address on file, unless a different address is provided.
- Exchanges are not available by mail — please visit a store for size or color exchanges.
How to return by mail:

Print your packing slip:
- Sign in and go to your account on a desktop computer.
- Click on the Order History link.
- Find the order that includes the item you wish to return and click on the order number.
- Find the item you would like to return and click on the Packing Slip/Receipt link. Print out this page.
- Note: Orders may contain multiple packing slips if items are shipped separately. You may need to print out multiple slips if you are returning more than one item.

Write your email address on the packing slip.

Pack the merchandise securely in a sturdy box with all tags attached.

Tip: Returning in-store avoids postage costs and allows you to make same-day exchanges for size or color (when available).
Threshold Returns
Larger items that required freighted delivery need to be returned via a delivery service and cannot be accepted in a store.
Fees and Refunds:
- Shipping costs and surcharges are non-refundable.
- There is a 15% restocking fee unless the returned item is defective.
How to start a Threshold Return:
- Follow the instructions printed near the bottom of your order invoice, marked with a stop sign.
- Call Kohl’s Customer Service at 844-564-5701 to arrange your return.
Kohl’s Cash® and Returns
Kohl’s Cash® is typically awarded in $10 increments for every $50 spent on qualifying merchandise. Your refund amount may be adjusted depending on whether Kohl’s Cash® was earned or redeemed for the items being returned.
Returning Items That Earned Kohl’s Cash® that Was Never Redeemed
If you return items from a purchase that earned Kohl’s Cash®, your Kohl’s Cash® may be reduced or voided if the return lowers your total purchase below the amount needed to earn it.
When your return is processed, we recalculate your purchase total. If that total no longer meets the earning threshold, your Kohl’s Cash® will be adjusted accordingly.
Example: You spend $100 and earn $20 in Kohl’s Cash®. Later, you return a $60 item. Your adjusted total becomes $40, which no longer qualifies for Kohl’s Cash®. Since you haven’t used the $20 Kohl’s Cash® yet, it will be voided.
Returning Items That Earned and Redeemed Kohl’s Cash®
If you’ve already used your Kohl’s Cash® and then return items from the purchase that earned it, your refund will be reduced by the amount of Kohl’s Cash® that is no longer earned.
Example: You spend $100 and earn $20 in Kohl’s Cash®. You use that Kohl’s Cash® on a later purchase. Then, you return $50 worth of items from your original $100 order.
Your new total is $50, which only qualifies for $10 in Kohl’s Cash®. Because you already used $20, your refund will be reduced by $10, which is the unearned portion.
If You Return Items Purchased Using Kohl’s Cash®
If you return an item you bought using Kohl’s Cash®, don’t worry—you’ll get all or a portion of your Kohl’s Cash® back.
- If your Kohl’s Cash® is still valid, the amount will be added back to that same Kohl’s Cash® coupon.
- If it has expired, you’ll receive a new Kohl’s Cash® coupon for the same amount.
You earned that Kohl’s Cash®, and it will not be taken away from you when returning those items.
Example: You use $20 in Kohl’s Cash® to buy a sweater, then decide to return it. If your Kohl’s Cash® is still valid, $20 will be credited back to your existing coupon. If it’s expired, we’ll issue you a new $20 Kohl’s Cash® coupon to use on a future purchase.
In-Store Exchanges
Most items are eligible for in-store exchanges within the applicable return window. Exchanges by mail are not available.
Exchanges must be for the same item (brand, style, and ticketed price) — only size or color may differ. If the replacement item has a different ticketed price, an even exchange cannot be completed.
In some situations you cannot exchange one item for another:
- Opened or unsealed breast pumps and pumping accessories.
- Items exclusively sold online or Marketplace items.
To make an exchange in store:
- Bring your item to any Kohl’s store.
- The store must have your replacement item in stock to complete an exchange. We can’t guarantee that your replacement item will be available.
- Visit the Customer Service counter to start your exchange.
- If an exchange can’t be completed, you can still return your item for a refund or merchandise credit (as applicable).
Tip: Even if you don't have your receipt, we can still look up your purchase using:
- Order number
- Kohl’s Rewards account
- Credit card number
- Return barcode in the Kohl’s App
Gift Exchanges
Items can be exchanged with a gift receipt within the applicable return window. If you don’t have a gift receipt, you’ll receive a Kohl’s Merchandise Credit for the lowest discounted 13-week sale price. A valid photo ID may be required.
Sephora at Kohl's Returns
We only accept returns for items purchased through Kohls.com, the Kohl’s app or at a Sephora at Kohl’s store. Items must be new or gently used and accompanied by a receipt.
- Returns must be made within 30 days of purchase.
- Returns without a receipt are not accepted.
- Final sale Sephora products cannot be returned.
Where to Return Sephora Purchases
- Sephora items purchased at Sephora at Kohl’s or on Kohls.com may be returned at any Kohl’s store, even if that location does not have a Sephora at Kohl’s.
- Sephora items purchased on Kohls.com or at a Sephora at Kohl’s location cannot be returned to standalone Sephora stores or mailed to Sephora.
- Items purchased directly from Sephora.com or standalone Sephora stores cannot be returned to Kohl’s or Sephora at Kohl’s locations. Please follow Sephora’s standard return process for those purchases.
Baby Registry Returns
Kohl’s offers an extended return period of up to 365 days for verified, eligible purchases from open registries.
- Applies to items connected to a verified registry at the time of purchase. A verified registry purchase means the item was bought online directly from the registry or in-store by scanning the registry’s QR code at checkout. When shopping online, verified items will show a “Baby Registry” label in your cart.
- The 365-day window begins on the purchase date.
- Exceptions: Opened or unsealed breast pumps and select accessories are non-refundable and cannot be exchanged.
Proof of Purchase Requirements
Gift Receivers:
- Must provide an original receipt, gift receipt or the item must be a verified purchase off your registry to qualify for the extended return period.
- To confirm if an item is a verified Kohl’s purchase, visit the Gift Tracker tab in the owner’s view within your registry and check the individual item.
- Refunds will be issued as Kohl’s Merchandise Credit (KMC).
- For items not linked to your registry at checkout or without a receipt, you’ll receive a Kohl’s Merchandise Credit for the lowest discounted 13-week sale price. A valid photo ID may be required.
Gift Purchasers:
- Must provide an original receipt, gift receipt or successful lookup to receive a refund or exchange. Associates can use your order number, Kohl’s Rewards account information, credit card number or return barcode within the app to look up your order.
- Make sure to purchase items directly from the registry if shopping online or to have an associate scan the registry QR code while checking out if shopping in-store. This will allow for easier returns for your gift recipients.
Return Amazon Orders at Kohl’s
Amazon returns are easy and free at most Kohl’s stores (excluding Anchorage, Alaska).
How to Return Amazon Items
- Begin your return in Amazon’s Online Return Center.
- Select the Kohl’s Dropoff option.
- Amazon will email and display a QR code in your account.
- Bring your item(s) and QR code to a participating Kohl’s store.
- A Kohl’s associate will pack, label, and ship your return for free.
