TV Stands & Entertainment Centers
Add function and style to your television viewing area with TV stands and entertainment centers from Kohl's! More often than not, the centerpiece of your living room, she-shed or man cave is that beautiful smart TV that keeps you and your guests entertained for hours on end. But as much as we love our flatscreen or curved screen televisions, they just don't look right unless they're mounted on a TV stand or entertainment center. Good thing Kohl's has a huge collection of TV stands, entertainment centers, and media storage shelves and cabinets to make the most out of your television space.
Choosing the Right TV Stand or Entertainment Center
With such a wide selection of TV stands and entertainment centers, how do you choose the one that's best for you? The first thing you need to do is decide on the type of entertainment center that will work best in your particular space in terms of size and decor. There are a few different types of entertainment centers. One of the largest are wall units. These units are like bookcases for televisions, as they surround the TV with shelves, drawers and other storage options.
TV consoles are probably the most common type of entertainment center. They are long cabinets you place your television on top of and which feature shelves or cabinets for storage.
TV stands offer a simpler yet still attractive look and, much like other types of units, allow for storage in drawers, on shelves, or in cabinets. Whereas entertainment centers are usually larger in size than TV stands and can often take up an entire wall, TV stands are more streamlined in their design. The most common TV stands are typically constructed of wood but some models are made of metal. Decorative steel TV stands have become increasingly popular over the years and offer a sturdy, rustic look.
Always Measure Your Space
Measuring the space you are planning for your TV stand or entertainment center is essential in choosing the best one. You don't want to end up with a piece that's way too big, but if it's too small it may look out of place. This measurement should of course be made in conjunction with the measurement of the television. Even if you think you know the size of your TV, measure it again. The screen size noted on the box is measured across the diagonal, and doesn't indicate the actual height and width of the TV itself.
The third measurement is to determine your seated line of sight. For comfortable viewing, the lower half of the television screen should be level with your line of sight when you're sitting on the sofa or chairs that surround it. Mark where your line of sight is, and then make sure the shelf the TV will be on is no more than 12 inches below that measurement.
Keep Cords In Mind
It has become popular among homeowners to run their cords behind the walls for clean-looking walls which makes cord management essentially a non-issue. But for some people, particularly those who rent their home rather than own it, cords need to be taken into consideration. Besides the television itself, cable boxes, soundbars, and video game systems will all add wires that you want to keep out of sight. Make sure to look for a TV stand or entertainment center that has at least one hole drilled in the back for cords. Depending on the layout of shelves and cabinets, two holes might be even better.
Also, be sure to shop Kohl's for all the little extras you'll need to decorate the empty shelf space on your TV stand or entertainment center such as framed pictures, decorative clocks, and candles. Finding the right TV stand or entertainment center and everything that goes with it should be a fun adventure, and you'll be sure to find the perfect one for your home or living space when you shop Kohl's!
