Even with his father and grandfather helping, my grandson wasn't able to get screws to fit. The gift is sitting in the box because my grandson needs help in cleaning parts so they will fit. I love the concept but the parts have extra plastic on them that has to be sanded off before anything fits well. My grandson is thirteen and we were hoping he could learn about motors before he got his own car in a few years.

This has many steps in the directions. It was also sometimes very confusing. Very tiny screws that were difficult to screw in. Some parts actually broke off prior to building it-poorly made. Some screw holes did not fit the screws and we had to enlarge them. Much more difficult and time consuming than we thought. My 11 yr old would not have been able to do it by himself.

I purchased the engine model for my 13 year old grandson for Christmas. The knowledge he recieved from building this model impressed both my son and husband. My grandson now understands the basic workings of a 4 cyclinder engine and never got greasey.
