Rated 2 out of 5 by from No Longer A Fan Let me join the chorus of long-time STF 501 wearers that are disappointed by the cheapening of a once-terrific product. As others have noted, the denim fabric is now much thinner, and the durable, double stitching on inner pant leg seams is no more. Bummer. We had a good 50-year run together, but I guess I need to find my new go to. Would've been willing to pay a bit more to maintain the quality, but I guess that train's left the station. Hello, Carhartt?

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not liking the changes made I have been wearing 501 Shrink to Fit sense i was 5 years old i am now 58 years old. I just bought a couple of pair and i noticed they were much thinner and no more double stitching on the inseam and the hem on bottom legs were much shorter. The fit is also not the same as they have been in the past. I think it is because levi has decided to sacrifice quality over profit margins and corporate greed .It is too bad to see such an icon go down this path. If I can get the old quality i would gladly pay for it. PS is there still some old style 501 shrink to fit, if so i would like to buy them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The same This is the same as back in the 1970s as far as I can tell. That is the the 501 Rigid STF shrink to fit. I get 1" big in the waist, 2" in the inseam. The shrinking and stretching process takes care of a perfect fit eventually. If you get the pre worn out versions the waist is lower, the fabric is thinner, and just not as good. Some girl many years ago said to me my jeans don't look real - but that was just because they were brand new. A pair of jeans needs to earn its reality. !!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Good Bye, Original Jeans There was only one Shrink to Fit jean product for many years and I have been a customer since 1966. In the past 30 years this term has been applied to a wide variety of newer products that are not of the same quality. I've had problems with the fly in other than the "original" in that the buttons are not well spaced. The material in those jeans has changed as well. I can no longer distinguish what constitutes the "original" and will be shopping for a product that is like the old jeans.
