Rated 5 out of 5Â by bml4 I have made cookies, mashed potatoes, eggnog and lots of other things with my new mixer and I've decided that I like it :) . In the other reviews I read that the slow speed is really slow, it is! I was expecting more speed out of the high speed though. It doesn't spin nearly as fast as my old mixer but I have noticed that even in the thick dough and potatoes it doesn't bog down either. So all in all I think the little slower fast speed might turn out to be alright. We'll just have to see how long it lasts!! Oh I would definitely do the 7 speed (the one I bought) over the 5 speed.

I have the "big" mixer and just wanted to replace my 20+ year old hand mixer and ordered this. I tested it and was very disappointed at how it operates on the highest setting. As compared to my older mixer, this was more like a medium setting and I am surprised, especially since it is a KitchenAid.
As an example, I was making a receipe where I had to cream the butter and sugar and, on the highest setting, this took too long in my opinion. I am going to take it back and try to get one that has more speeds.

I have only used this mixer 4 or 5 times since I bought it, but so far I have no complaints. It is very quiet, lightweight, and powerful. I haven't made anything heavy yet, such as cookie dough, that will be the ultimate test. Overall, I am very pleased with my purchase and would recommend. I paid more for this mixer than my other three mixers combined which did concern me at first, but I am a firm believer in "you get what you pay for" and I was not sorry I spent the money.

Smoothest mixing I have ever seen. Cake batter looked like layers of velvet while mixing. Lowest setting is slow enough to whip cream with confidence (though I had a food fiasco doing that, I saw the potential in the mixer). I loved how it has a power button, so there's less risk of accidentally activating the mixer just by plugging it in. Eject button doesn't fight back. Surprisingly light--my cousin's 7-year-old was using it for a while. Can't wait to use it again!
