Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not at all what I expected I have several kitchaid products and this is the first that I've been disappointed with. Here are a couple issues that I have with the product: 1. The housing easily gets stained. 2. I washed the two attachments I used and the next day there were rust spots on them. 3. The locking mechanism of the attachments are difficult and unsafe to remove. One of my attachments requires pliers to remove, 4. Therer is no consistency of the slices that are made. This would be a product that I would return to the store. However, they will not accept a used item. I think Kitchenaid should seriously consider modifying this product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A concept that works! I have been looking high and low for a cheese grater that would do the work for me. While this was expensive, I liked the fact it wasn't going to take up a lot of space and would keep me from having to buy a food processor just to grate cheese. I loved the way that it grated my cheese...quick and easy, just as I hoped. However, when I tried to grate some (mini) carrots to go with my salad, the pieces got stuck in the housing....and I heard a disturbing 'crack.' Yes. Those pesky carrots cracked the housing. However, when I contacted customer service, I felt listened to and they backed their product. For this, it went from a 2 star to a 4 star review. However....you might want to avoid mini carrots and stick with cheese....

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A good smasher but does NOT cut/slice The product literature lead you to believe that it is a slicer...IT DEFINITELY IS NOT. The metal in the cones is near 1/8th inch thick, and the elements to slice or shred have been pushed out of the metal. But these edges have not been sharpened so when you try to slice a vegetable it is only accomplished by brute force on the plungers and the result is a torn away (Not Sliced) Vegetable. I am going to take it back...as it is either not made correctly and misrepresented in their literature. I have worked in and around food for over 40 years and this product is just bad.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Horrible slicer I got this for free when I bought my kitchenaid stand mixer. Used it first to spread some potatoes for hash browns. The shredding aspect of this actually works pretty well. Shredded a few potatoes quickly. Nothing stuck so clean up was a breeze. Hash browns came out perfectly. Decided to try the slicer to make some potato chips. This is where this product falls flat. It was absolutely horrible. My slices were all a different constantly and some of it ended up as mush. If you plan on using this for slicing, save yourself a few bucks and get a nice mandoline instead.
