Rated 1 out of 5 by from unable to use for anything I bought this a while ago and today realized I can not use it for ANYTHING. A while back, I tried to grind meat with it, only to have it fail completely (the blade only mushed the meat, didn't grind it and the machine quickly became backed up), and today I tried to grind sliced ham, only to realize after grinding two pounds of it, that the middle of the grinder was rubbing metal on metal, pushing a gray fine metal infused substance into the ground ham. Needless to say, I had to throw out the two pounds that I ground, had to buy new ham and had to use my old hand-cranked grinder. Disappointing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Problems with Food Grinder maybe assembly problem by user I love this food grinder and use it for all types of meat on a weekly basis. Today I accidentally did not assemble it correctly before trying to use it and learned that is a disaster and created most of the problems reported in the negative reviews here. Someone put away the parts to my food grinder and didn't put the little square "knife" part with the other parts and I somehow forgot it existed. So I assembled the grinder parts and it hardly worked at all. I go a small crack in the housing, had to use the pusher to even get anything out a all and thought I had broken something. I cleaned it all out and tried again and started even getting metal shavings grinding from the shaft into the meat. So I stopped, took it apart again and found a manual and realized I had neglected to put the little square part they call the "knife" on to the shaft before the round grinding plate. Once I found it and put it on, viola, no problems at all and it was back to working as it has always worked....which is GREAT......so I wonder if that is a part that people don't realize is essential to the operation of the grinder....it can't be lost or just ignored. In any case, there is the issue that these parts can be easily lost but I clean and dry mind and then store them all assembled in a large plastic zip lock bag near my mixer so it is ready to use next time.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from This product works good, just doesn't hold up. I love the grinder. The problem is, with a company that makes such a superior Standmixer, I have had to replace the grinder twice, and shredder twice. They crack easily and at the cost of them, they are not a good buy. I just purchased one of your vintage grinders that is made of aluminum and wonder why you changed the aluminum to plastic. The plastic ones aren't any good. As for the shredder, I decided to go with a cheaper brand food processor instead of purchasing a 3rd one. I love my Kitchen Aid and have bought one for both of my kids because they are excellent. But advised them that the accessories aren't worth the money. Sorry.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not a meat grinder!! This was a birthday gift. The only purpose was to grind my own meats. All it does is mash meat and stop after a minute because of the build up of fat, muscle and grizzle. Have to take it apart to pry off glop just to have to do it again and again. Tried with beef and then pork with same results. There are grey pieces of meat dispersed among ground meat Very disappointed with this, even though have 2 mixers that are are by far the best I have used. One mixer was my mom's dating back from 1958 and still runs like a top and my newest is 20 years old in excellent condition.
