Rated 1 out of 5 by from No support for 5Ghz. I live in an area where there is so much saturation at 2.5Ghz that the band is pretty much unusable. So my entire home network runs on 5Ghz. So unfortunately I bought three of these things and they are unusable. One of the boxes is damaged so I am stuck with a doorstop but trying to get the others returned now. Don't be cheap Tp-Link and start supporting the other bands. I saw the other review about users not needing the "higher speeds" of 5Ghz... but you know, it is not always about the speed . It is now a basic connectivity need for some.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works great, but design needs work. I purchased two of these to test how they would work as I begin to automate my home with Amazon's Alexa. Pros: Setup was a breeze. Easily linked to Echo Dot w/ Alexa. Response time to vocal commands is good. Cons: My only complaint is the unit is too bulky. (-1 star) TP-Link pay attention...all you have to do is make the base of the unit flat instead of round. Then I can plug something into the outlet under it. Here's another wild idea...make a smart outlet that incorporates both plugs and not just one!!! And if you know what you're doing, you could even make it so I can operate them independent of each other! I totally expect a consulting fee for doing this extremely difficult brainstorming for you. Keep up the good work!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Works fine, BUT.... Setup easily right out of the box and had no issues getting it work as planned in an outlet that it was the only item plugged into. I went to install a second plug on another outlet that had two items plugged into it, and I discovered that the shape of this smart plug simply does not allow it to be in an outlet with another item plugged into it. What were you thinking? Did no one on the product development team think to plug another item into the outlet to test out the size? As I went back and looked through the website I noticed that in the pictures with this smart plug in use it appears that it is plugged into a single outlet receptacle. Boo for not being forthcoming in a known limitation.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Questionable reliability I have 3 of these. They generally work OK - far better than WiWo. However they have a very irritating quirk. 2 of them suddenly decide they are no longer associated with my account so local access only. One of them however keeps changing its mind and decides it can be remotely controlled. The other seems convinced it is bound to another account. Sometimes the Kasa app can't connect to the wayward unit at all. Both these units are essentially side by side and in a room adjacent to the wifi so signal strength is very good. Net - not really very stable if you want remote access. So recommended if you are ok with local access only or want to set it up for timed lighting.
