Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ease of operation and cleaning After using a Hoover for the past 14 years ( 3 times a year in my house and numerous times for the children ) it was an OK unit or so I thought till I used this Rug Doctor. The upholstery and stair unit is more ergonomic and easier on the wrist. The clean and dirty water tanks just lift off (no latches) and the suction is way better. I also purchase a Bissell unit that I used once and returned.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Work Horse that will clean ! This product is a work horse however I quickly was tutored thte pros and cons of the Rug Doctor. When using the cleaner, the only direction for cleaning is one direction and that is towards your feet. You can not use this like a vacuum cleaner and other rug cleaners in a forward and reverse mode. No separate container for cleaning solution. One must wash and rinse by changing the clean water container. Suction is phenomenal initially. The rotating bristles do their job. You MUST vacuum before your use this device and ensure your vacuum is also a great product for lifting and picking up debris especially PET HAIR! I highly recommend cleaning this unit after each use thoroughly Taking the housing unit apart is not easy and or not feasible. So, any debris caught within the main unit is there to stay unless you can remove all 4 screws holding the plastic in place. Be careful of the suction edges. If you manage to pull the unit in reverse and bump into an object it may pull and/or crack the plastic suction seal. Overall, I highly recommend this for someone who only needs to use a few times a year and ideally with NO pets. There is NO ' catcher' for left over pet hair that the RUG Doctor will absolutely pull from the carpet fibers and this is where you will be frustrated. Water tank is not heated. The handle does fold/collapse for smaller storage area. There are no settings for clearance of low, medium or high. I attempted to use this device weekly with 4 dogs. Bad idea! The Rug Doctor alone though is a great machine for high traffic areas of your home. .
