Rated 3 out of 5 by from Like the features but off switch & lid malfunction I bought this kettle 20 months ago, very pleased with it first year: Speed of heating heat resistant handle, fairly small footprint of the base and the thumb triggered lid opener. Then the lid gradually refused to stay closed, even when pushed down, so steam escapes at top. In last two months, it no longer switchs off if picked up when still heating. Is the switch wearing out ? If I forget to manually turn it off will it boil dry and be a fire hazard?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from outstanding, quick, boiling hot, easy to fill The Black & Decker Stainless Steel Electric Kettle is excellent, dependable. I make hot tea several times from morning to evening, this kettle does the job quickly. For the price, it lasts a long time, mine has lasted 2 and a half years, maybe longer than the manufacturer thought it would last, but it has. For the money, I'd recommend this product. Tea water tastes as you'd expect without any metal tastes. The water is boiing hot, and I'd recomment not using underneath a cabinet as the steam would ruin your wood. Buy it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not durable We did not use this very long until the switch stopped working on the bottom, AND the lid stopped staying closed on top! Truly disappointed in apparent decline in quality of Black & Decker products.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Leaked after 3 months of use. I have the same problem as the previous reviewer. I loved everything about this kettle until it began leaking after about 3 months of daily use. After only 5 months, if you forget and leave water in it overnight, it will all leak out by morning. It's such a shame because it really is a very nice kettle in the way it looks, how quickly it heats and just it's overall design. But with that being said, a kettle that leaks water is worthless!! I am unable to find my receipt or else this would have been returned when it first leaked.
