Rated 3 out of 5 by from Gone too Soon We received this opener as a Christmas gift. We used it probaby 3 times a week since then. The opener quit working in the "Open" direction. The "Eject" direction worked fine. The issue is the reversing switch has four contacts, 2-Open, 2-Eject, and one of the 2-Open contact's spring/contacts broke off. The stress cycles eventually cause "work-hardening" and failure of any metal, but after only 72 cycles it is very premature. Oyster may want to look into the spring/contacts material they are using or the process of soldering the spring/contacts to the reversing switch. The soldering process my be changing the spring/contacts metallurgy with to much heat. But then again maybe it just broke! LOL

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed I bought the wine opener after seeing many positive reviews and have bought Oster products before. I charged it for 2 days. The directions don't state if the red charging light should go out when fully charged. After 2 days I tried the opener and the cork came out only about an inch. I tried again without success. I tried another bottle of different wine, again with a "real cork" cork with the same results. Called my neighbor to get the cork out of the bottle. I am a senior citizen and opening a wine bottle is difficult for me. I have seen friends of mine have success with this opener but it just won't work for me.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A must for frequent wine drinkers For individuals who open multiple bottles of wine a week, this product is a useful and time saving addition to your kitchen repertoire. The device is easy to use and works exactly as described. The instructions are straightforward, and there is very little "manpower" involved- with a push of the button, the wine cork practically removes itself! However, the time saved per bottle opened is approximately 15 seconds, so for an only occasional wine drinker, it may not be worth the price or counter space. Otherwise, it's definitely worth it for the convenience factor. Plus, it's an attractive, modern, and classy addition to anyone's counter!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works great, but do not leave it in the charger. I love this thing. The most recent purchase (April 2013) was the second one. The first one lasted 10 years before the battery died. This one lasted 3 years. The difference was the the first was not placed in the charger except when it was completely run down. The second one came into our new home with plenty of counter space, so we followed the directions and left it in the charger all of the time. This has NiCd battery which loses its charging capacity of you do not run it down completely.
