Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horribly designed carafe I recently purchased the spacemaker scm2000bd. The thermal carafe is a horribly designed part. First off it is a pain to pour and if you are lucky enough to get the last bit out just set it down and watch coffee miraculously reapear from within. It seems to leak into the cavity between the upper black plastic ring and the stainless (nasty health hazard). But it doesn`t stop there while pouring into your cup it leaks out all over your counter from the same space on the outside of the carafe, the union of plastic to stainless. Makes a great pot of coffee though

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Hate the carafe!! We bought this coffee maker to go with the SpaceMaker toaster oven. The oven is great but the coffee maker is such a disappointment. When you pour the coffee it literally leaks through the seams along the top of the carafe. You also have to be careful when you wash it because the dish water goes into the seams. The carafe does not keep the coffee hot so you have maybe 1 hour of hot coffee- if family members go to work at different times the last to leave gets cold coffee. This is going back-

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best Coffee Maker for RV My old Spacemaker (from early '90s) was knocking on death's door when I purchased this one to replace it. Things I like: It's looks much more stylish and takes up less space than the old one. Programmable Auto-start Pause-n-serve SPACEMAKER (Ideal design for motorhome) Does not leak coffee Thermal Carafe seems to keep coffee piping hot for at least 2 hours. Three things to be aware of: First, as this is a coffee maker, there tends to be quite a bit of steam and therefore some moisture build up from the unit. This means that "IT WILL DRIP" on your counter, so make sure you plan for this ahead of time. It's just a few water drops, until you remove the brew basket, then quite a few more water drops. Second, the thermal carafe design is short (good) but long (bad) and the handle extends pretty far back. This makes it difficult for someone without strong wrists to use one-handed, as the bulk of the weight is pretty far away from the handle. Third, the water reservoir is graduated, but the makings seem rather inaccurate. If I fill the reservoir to the 8-cup (Max fill) mark, it only brews about 2/3 of a pot. So I now measure my water by first filling the Carafe, then pouring from the carafe into the reservoir, so I can make a full pot of coffee. When I do this, the water level in the reservoir reads rather high above the "Max Fill" line, but works just fine. Conclusion: Since my application (Motorhome) is tight on space and I wanted an under-the-cabinet design, this unit fits perfectly. Although it has a couple quirks, it works beautifully and hopefully will last for years to come. If our next motorhome does not already have one, I will likely buy one of these again.
