Rated 3 out of 5 by from It's OK DISCLAIMER: **If you are more traditional and wish not to expose the children in your care to a homosexual lifestyle, then this product is NOT for you.** It's nice to see Hot Dots for toddlers! Pros:The books themselves were very cute, have great illustrations. Cons: The Bear Pen seemed a little on the cheaply made side and doesn't work with rechargeable batteries. It fit in my toddler's hand well, but you have to line it right up (perfectly straight) for it to work right. Bottom line: I don't think an individual would get a lot of use out of them, but they'd be valuable in a daycare or preschool setting.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very cute product! This product is adorable. My nearly 2 year old enjoys the books and the Elliott pen. She enjoys hearing the sounds Elliott makes and seems to understand the idea of answering the questions, much to my surprise. I've recommend this product to some friends because I feel like the two-year-old birthday can be tough to buy for (since so many products are age three and up). I believe these sets would make a great gift. I wish I could buy more books without them being packaged with another pen. Also, the pen needs a firm press on a firm backing to make sounds.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for head-eye and cause and effect The first set I received the bear didn't work after trying many batteries. The company sent another quickly with batteries. My just turned 2 son enjoyed using the pen just like his bigger sister's Hot Dots set. I like how for the toddlers it only lights up for correct answers and not correct/incorrect like the older version of Hot Dots does. From experimenting we found it would light up if he touched the black car as well and not just the dot under the color black. It will be good for his hand eye coordination and cause and effect. The books themselves are sturdy and can be enjoyed without the pens. As mentioned in the other reviews one book does feature two mothers.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Bear needs work My daughter is 2 and she loves to play with the bear because it lights up, unfortunately it took me a couple tries to get the bear to work, I used a new pack of batteries and I kept switching batteries finally after like the 6th try I got the bear to work and all has been well. I bought the same toy for a friend and she had no issues with the bear. The book is durable and fun to play with my daughter has caught on, so she touches all the black dots til the light turns on.
