Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solved all my slow cooker problems I have been stymied for years with inconsistant roasts in my slow cookers. All too often the meat was overcooked with no flavor due to the low setting still being too high and essentiall boiling the meat. This slow cooker has solved that problem. I can set it at 200 degrees and 4-6 hours later have a fabulous succulent pot roast. I do not use the sear feature. I have no interest in that as I always sear my meat in a cast iron skillet. My best recipe is beef bourginon. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sharp looker, great cooker I'd been thinking about getting a slow cooker for a while, so when I started shopping, I was delighted to find this model from KitchenAid. It steams and braises as well as slow cooks, and the attractive round stainless steel kettle shape is easier to store in my cabinets than a more oblong cooker would be. The integrated handles and spout on the removable cooking container are nice touches, and the non-stick surface performs well. The controls are nicely integrated, have good visibility, and are reasonably intuitive and easy to use. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love this...BUT... Purchased this (with stir tower attachment) summer of 2015 and have used it many times. For the most part I love this cooker but have a few issues/concerns. Even though I use only silicone utensils, the insert has chipped. There is more chipping with each use and am concerned about flakes getting into food. On soup setting, cannot get cooker to advance to step two and three so once browning is done I must change setting to slow cook. I'm not sure if this is me or the cooker but have consulted manual and don't see any special instructions for this. Also, wish pot were larger than 4-quart and would like more recipes. I would recommend with reservations.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Impractical This is a high priced gadget not for an experienced cook. It can do many things, but an experienced cook can do all of these things in less time and less need for attention. The searing option only allows for 4 oz. of meat or vegetables at a time. Why take the extra time to sear multiple batches for soup or stew when that can be done on your skillet or cast iron grill? The mechanical spoon mechanism is LOUD! The extra steps needed to use this appliance eliminates its usefulness. If you want a rice cooker, buy one. If you want a risotto maker, buy one. If you need to sear, buy a skillet. Do not buy this ill-equipped gadget.
