Rated 4 out of 5 by from Recommend! My children love the Hot Dots alphabet cards. I am a pediatric occupational therapist and it is a great activity to work on grasping, visual discrimination, letter recognition, form constancy, and visual motor integration skills. For parents it is a great activity to work on independent learning and play, as the pen provides feedback as to whether or not the chosen answer is correct. My kids love when it lights up and makes a sound. If you want to do this activity in a quiet area, you can even turn the sound off and just see red or green lights to notify the child if the chosen answer is correct. The only thing I would change would be to have an option to only provide positive feedback (lights and sound) when the chosen answer is correct versus providing lights and sound for incorrect answers as well. I believe this would encourage increased attention to the task in a more desperate attempt to receive the auditory and visual feedback on the first attempt. Overall, I would recommend this product!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Recommended - Fun, educational product These hot dots cards are a wonderful way to learn the alphabet. This product is a great educational tool to use at home or in a PreK classroom. The set creates many useful teaching moments that benefit children who are learning the alphabet. My children love using the hot dots pens with different hot dots sets and the Alphabet Cards are a great addition to our collection. My younger child (4) was given simple directions in the beginning and was able to work independently using this set to practice the alphabet. The directions were simple enough that when he needed help, my older child (6) could read it to him and give him assistance. My children already knew their alphabet when we tried this product, but they still enjoyed using it to practice their knowledge. Children who don't know the alphabet or letter sounds yet would benefit most from the learning experience if parents did the set alongside them. I would recommend this product. *I was provided this product in exchange for an honest review.*

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Engaging way to learn the alphabet for younger children My 5-1/2 year old found this fun at first, but then realized it was too easy for her. I think it would have been great for her up to 5 years old. The box says its for ages 3-6, but I think that's stretching it. Although, I guess it depends on the child, how many years of preschool he/she had, and how much the parent works with the child at home.
