Rated 2 out of 5 by from Loved it, but... Four months ago I bought this Cuisinart model due to its style and features that are included-- charcoal filter, gold tone coffee filter, it is programmable and I found it easy to use and it made a good cup of coffee. But, was I surprised when the whole unit did not work suddenly one morning! No lights came one, no brewing--nothing! And here it was only four months old. However, Kohl's was very good about accepting this coffeemaker back and making good on its replacement. Thank you, Kohl's! I didn't expect this mal-functioning from a Cuisinart product. It is a more expensive coffeemaker than many, but it had died!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Close but no cigar.... Makes great coffee, but has 2 fatal design defects. It has a metal plate on the bottom of the unit. This plate is not stainless steel, so it rusts. The source of the water is a combination of a slow leak inside the unit and water that drips off the lid when you remove the spent grounds. The lid should have been cantilevered, to prevent water from running down the back of the unit when the lid is opened. The metal plate should have been stainless. The rusting metal plate stains your countertop.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Coffee, but . . . The carafe drives us crazy. No matter how we pour, what we try, it drips like crazy and makes a mess. I realize it's just water, but we have to wipe down the coffee pot before we turn it on, even the heating plate. I set the pot right by the sink so the majority of the "escaping" water drops in there rather than all over the counter. When we pour a cup of coffee, we do it over the sink for the same reason. I am going to contact Cuisinart to see if that's a normal problem or if I have a defectively made carafe. Otherwise, it's a nice coffee pot. The coffee tastes wonderful and it operates quietly and relatively quickly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from learning curve I like the simplicity and "well-built" feel of this coffee maker. I usually make 5 cups in the morning. When I began using the Cuisinart I used the same amount of coffee as I did with my Krups (which developed a leak after 10+ years). The coffee tasted like colored water. I like bold tasting coffee. I was so disappointed. I tried using the 1-4 cup button and that helped a lot. I'm not certain why this worked, but I'm now satisfied with the taste. I wish the enclosed instructions mentioned how to remove lid of pot. Took me a while to figure out where to push to release clasp and to resist the temptation to yank it.
