Rated 1 out of 5 by from No good if you're baby moves/crawls Since this product was created by moms, I was expecting that it would work. My baby is six months old, and he knows how to crawl. When he crawls or moves even the slightest bit on the mat, it bunches up into a ball and serves no purpose. The four weighted corners don't even slightly stay in place. This product should only be advertised for babies who cannot move. For babies who do crawl, it should be advertised that it's only good on lawns when the four stakes are hammered into the ground. This product has a huge fault and defect and is a complete waste of money.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Small, lightweight mat for many uses My favorite attribute of the Monkey Mat is that it packs into such a small bag that is very lightweight. This means that it can be taken almost anywhere. The only reason I didnt rate 5stars is that the lightweight fabric comes with a small trade-off that it doesnt provide much comfort/protection from whatever you are sitting on (thick grass stalks, small rocks, sticks). I'm sure the quilted mat they offer would solve this problem, but would probably not be so compact. We use this product all the time for camping, outdoor concerts, picnics, beach, etc... and it does a good job.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great space saving portability I bought this over a month ago and have used it 4 times. I like that it is very portable doesn't take up any space in the car, with its little chain I can hang it on stroller or diaper bag when walking/hiking, and folds easily back into pouch. Downfall didn't know it was so thin, my toddler doesn't like pokey grass, so this doesn't help. Wish it came with attached pins or stakes. The weights are pretty useless and it hasn't even been windy. Haven't used it in sand yet, would definitely need the stakes, or sand will get everywhere, but would easily slide off.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice if you really want to save on space I've only used this mat in the park so far. The best feature is how small and light it is when folded up. This was the reason I bought it and I'm happy enough with that. The material is very thin and the stitching a little cheap looking so I'm not sure how long it will last (haven't tried washing it yet). I wouldn't really call it water resistant though - I still felt the damp from the ground come through even though it hadn't rained for weeks (maybe I chose the wrong spot to sit in). Overall, I'm happy enough because I just wanted a very small, lightweight surface for use at the park.
