Rated 5 out of 5 by from Around 3 years ago I gave a Magic Chef Portable Ice Machine to some friends of mine for their lake house. It works so well they never have to buy ice. We seam to always laugh about how well it works & how it's the first thing turned on when they arrive at the cabin. Well these friends also entertain a lot at their home & it seams like I am the one that always has to stop and pick up ice. Not any more, I bought the New 35lbs per day Magic Chef Portable Ice Machine for my friends home. In around 10 min. tray of ice...when the basket fills up they empty into freezer...Life Is Good

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best one I've found Because of my wife's health issues, we go through a lot of ice. Have tried a half dozen machines over the last 8 years. Magic chef is the most reliable of the bunch. However, quality can vary from unit to unit - we had one that died after 60 days, and another that arrived broken. Luckily we bought both from Kohl's, so getting a replacement was relatively easy. Not "poof - tadaah!" easy, but better than any other store we've tried to exchange small electronics at.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Will save money on "store-bought" ice I got this ice machine for my husband for our place on a lake. Since it's not close to any stores, it takes time, gas, and cash to go get ice for the coolers and iced tea. He loves it! Saves up the ice in zip-locs to use on the boat and for cooling the fish. Makes a lot of ice very quickly. Will pay for itself soon.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Bummed-ice cubes taste like plastic It looks great and works fast, but the ice cubes taste like plastic. Yes, we used a mild soap with water to clean it, but the ice cubes still have a chemical/plastic aftertaste :-(
