Rated 1 out of 5 by from Too fragile After putting it through the dishwasher for the first time it just barely touched my granite counter top and a big part of the spout came off. I was shocked. It was the exterior part so I thought it was safe as long as I didn't use it to pour anything. After a little while longer I noticed a long crack down the bowl and I hardly ever used it. No idea how that even happened. This product is way too fragile. I was heartbroken. As a food writer and photographer, it was so great to capture light into the bowl but it is not worth it. This item should be recalled.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great bowl accessory I have owned the glass bowl for my stand mixer for about 6 or 7 years. Not sure what happened with the others whose bowls broke but I have been very happy with mine, perhaps damaged in shipping or user error. Also, I am not sure how others over-tightened theirs. It is not required to be super tight, just enough to keep it from moving up and down, the threads will keep it from moving side to side. The plastic screw base does not need to be tightened too much as it needs to be removed for the dishwasher or microwave. The amount of light it lets in compared to the stainless steel bowl is nice and I prefer it for most mixing jobs. Except for whipping cream, etc, since the stainless freezes better.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bowl Cracked... so disappointed! I love my KitchenAid Mixer and had bought it because of it's long lasting durability and timelessness. I was so excited to have the glass bowl with my mixer, because it has a spout and a lid which came in handy. However, just recently the bowl has cracked with a 7 inch crack down the side... I really couldn't believe it. I'm disappointed because the glass bowl is not cheap. It was nice while it lasted, but I was greatly surprised that it did crack because it seems to be heavy duty, that is just not the case. I'm so disappointed in KitchenAid. Rated 2 out of 5 by from Beware of the glass bowl I love love love the 5qt mixer i purchased but it came with the glass bowl which looks very nice and is handy for seeing your ingredients but the 3rd time it was used the very bottom where the bowl locks in cracked with tiny shards of glass getting in my finger. I have wanted one of these mixers my whole life and after spurging on the purchase i am disappointed in the glass quality and wish mine had come with the metal bowl. Now im stuck with a 300 counter decoration or spending 60-70 to buy a new bowl or using it without it being locked in place. (This review was collected as part of a promotion.)
