Rated 4 out of 5Â by MacGuru Spartan and functional space-saving bed
I saw a knock on this bed in a review by a customer on another web site. It said the bed was hard to assemble, took five people all day, and was not stable when it was finished.
I can see how this can happen. Five people make a committee, and too many cooks spoil the soup.
I read the instructions several times to familiarize myself on how it was put together. I added a wrinkle; I glued all wooden joints as I attached them to stabilize and strengthen the furniture. I do that with all âconstruct-yourself-furniture' anyway.
I am 77 years old and did all the construction myself. I added another wrinkle; a pair of saw horses and a piece of plywood for assembling the drawers and first platform parts at waist level so I would not be required bend over.
The assembly, with glue-drying time, took six hours over 2 days. I took my time, so you can do it faster if you are younger and spryer than I.
The finished bed is stable, solid, spartan, space saving and attractive. It eliminates the need for a chest of drawers.
