This would have been a promising toy/learning material if there were any product support for it. As it is, the letters are not terribly sturdy and we've lost pieces to a chewing pet and, well, just getting lost. Meanwhile, Melissa & Doug doesn't offer replacement parts and doesn't have any plans to. The person I spoke to was unsympathetic to the whole issue. So, essentially, you should consider this either a disposable item or a source of frustration for a curious child who wants to spell with missing letters. M&D didn't even answer 2 written requests for them and I only was able to get an answer by phoning.

I was excited to buy this for my 2yr old. I know it says 4+ but I got it anyway. He knows his letters already so this allows him to put them into words. I was a little disappointed with the lack of different words. There are so many letters that can't even be used. Also I wish there was a lid for this. The small letters fall out easily. I think I will have to put them into a different container, a shame really because its a nice sturdy wooden box. Regardless of what I think my son loves it. Has not stopped playing with it. I will recommend to friends.

I saw this puzzle set at my local library and had to have it. I bought it for my 3-year-old and he is already learning all of the words. I am a former teacher and a mother of two and I believe this is a wonderful learning tool for young children. We do the puzzles together and he'll look at my word and tell me, "look, Mom, I have a "t" for you." The hands-on experience is really helping him learn his letters. Like all the previous comments, though, we need more words!!

I bought see & spell for my grandaughter and she loves the toy. I had to remove the wooden box that the board and letters are stored in. The box was full and she went to take out a board and her little finger got wedged and stuck between the board and box (not enough room). She was crying and we had to free her finger. The box needs to have more room so the fingers can easily pick up the board. I would only recommend this toy if they re-design the box. Thanks.
