Rated 5 out of 5 by Good purchase I had read the reviews prior to purchasing this set, and although some seemed unfavorable, I went ahead figuring perhaps the quality had changed, and because I have purchased this brand before from kohls in other items and they have been fine. I am glad I was not detered by the negative feedback, this has turned out to be a very good purchase and has already been put to great use. I especially like the steak knives that come with this set that are serrated, and sharp. I have not experienced any dull knives with this set yet. The scissors that come with this set are also sharp. There are also other knives that I have never found in other sets, it is a well rounded set and saves me from digging into my knife drawer as everything is handy. 12/20/2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Love the knives, some rust spots in dishwasher I am very picky with my tools, so this is a good review. I love the Santoku (x2), the chef and the paring knife. The steak ones I don't really find useful in the kitchen. The sharpening steel seems to be doing an excellent job on all the knives in my kitchen. The bread and the smaller serrated knife are really sharp. Once I managed to cut a piece of skin off my finger, I couldn't believe how thin it was - that's because the knife is really sharp. I did not expect them to rust in the dishwasher, as they are supposed to be stainless steel, but I assume the knives steel has to be harder somehow than the silverware. They have to be sharp for a long time, and that's why the harder steel alloy, with less nickel - so they get some rust spots in the dishwasher. I don't really mind, as long as they stay sharp. 02/18/2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by within the first few days... rust appeared I was very happy with the design of the knives and block and they did cut through everything like butter... however, within the first few days there was rust on a few of the blades, very disappointing I'm going back to Calphalon, I had a set for more than 10 years without ever having any rust spots at all. 12/15/2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Decent Product I have had my set for over 1-1/2 years. I think it's nice to read a review about a product that has been used for more than a couple of weeks, to get a real idea of how it's going to work in the long run. Overall I gave the knives a "good" rating. Why not great? I expect for the price these to be great, but they are lacking a bit. 1. I hand wash them, and care for them according to manufacturer's recommendations. I let them air dry a couple of time when they were new and they developed rust spots fairly quickly. I was able to clean it off for the most part. 2. The black part of the handle has gotten dull and "old" looking over what I consider a short amount of time. 3. One of the steak knives broke. I was cutting zucchini bread with it. The blade broke completely in half just above the first rivet. 4. Trying to find the manufacturer's contact info to write them about the broken knife has been very difficult and is a task I am still trying to accomplish. 08/07/2014
