I bought this bowl to use exactly as Rachel intended - for collecting the little bits and pieces of waste that accumulate while cooking. I got the purple color, and its a nice deep color, with multicolored flecks. Doesnt match a thing in my kitchen - i just liked it! It's hefty and the rubber bottom helps to keep it in place on the counter. My only issues with the bowl are price (a bit steep for a plastic bowl), and the fact that the bottom of the inside of the bowl is recessed. Gunk tends to accumulate there. Not a huge deal, but it would have been much easier to clean this bowl if it had been molded with a smooth inside, rather an with the little cup-shaped recess at the bottom.

I love these bowls and all the great colors they come in. I have purchased them in all the colors for gifts and for myself and everyone loves them. I gave one away for Christmas this year and when my boss got it she said she had given four for gifts also but didn't buy one for herself! I use mine for garbage but also to mix and I love it for salads at picnics. Mine is green but I am thinking about buying another in red. They are dishwasher safe, shatterproof and kid friendly! I love Rachel Ray products!

For years, I've thought this item would be a waste of money since I could easily use a bowl I already have. How wrong I was!!!! Other bowls never seemed to work. Maybe it's because they were used for other things. However, Rachel's Garbage Bowl has one purpose -- garbage -- and we use it every day. It sits on my counter and the whole family uses it. In fact, when my sister-in-law came to visit, she even commented on how handy it was. So I purchased this one for her. It's helped keep my kitchen counter much neater. Before, everyone would leave bottle caps, wrappers, etc. sitting on the counter instead of putting them into the regular garbage (I guess it was too much effort to open the cabinet door). Now, they automatically put everything in the garbage bowl. Thank you, Rachel!!!!!
