My 4 & 6 year old really enjoy this puzzle. My 4 year old requests to work puzzle over and over again. They have both picked up memorizing the states quickly and easily. The board is sensitive and will go off if you put wrong state on it, which is not a huge deal if you are working puzzle with them. The only thing I don't like is they combined several states(I.e KY/TN, SC/GA and all the tiny states together on one piece.) That is confusing to little ones as they don't realize they are different states as its all on 1 piece. That was disappointing

We just got this puzzle as a gift, unfortunately with no gift receipt. we have other melissa and doug puzzles that my son loves. I love the concept of this puzzle as it would be a great learning tool for my 2 year old son, and he loves when his other puzzles talk to him and make sounds. I put the batteries in this one and got nothing. He is bored with it because it does not make any noises. He is more entertained with dumping the pieces on the ground to hear them make some kind of noise. If I could actually get the sound to work on this toy, it would have gotten a higher rating.

We have LOVED every Melissa & Doug product we have ever bought, and that is a lot! This one is was such a bust. The sound is activated by covering the light sensor. Our puzzle is SO sensitive that when you reach across the puzzle to place your piece the shadow of your arm activates a random state. It was so bad we had to take the batteries out. We still use it, but I could have paid a lot less for puzzle without the sound feature.

We purchased this puzzle for my daughter's 3rd birthday. This has become her favorite puzzle and toy. We played with her and helped her identify the states and where they go. She's owned the puzzle for about 3 months now and can put it together by herself and can verbally identify about 90% of the states. She has trouble with the New England states where CT, NH, VT, MD, DE, NJ, RI are comblined on one piece.
