Rated 4 out of 5 by WONDERFUL BED These are absolutely gorgeous beds and the most expensive beds I've ever bought for my dogs. That being said, they are definitely worth the money in terms of quality of materials, and how well made they are. When they're delivered (at least from Kohls) each bed is in one box, but three pieces: the cover, the cushion and the bolster. Both the cushion and the bolster are in zippered liners in case you want to reduce or add to the filling. ( I can't see that you'd want to add to the bolster now because it's so fully packed as it is). I bought two 35" beds and probably could have gotten away with a smaller size IF the manufacturer, Carolina Pet Co. made it smaller. That being said, even though my dogs are fairly small, one is 15lbs and the other around 19lbs., I think they're going to LOVE them. There's plenty of room to stretch out and since they're both dachshunds, that's a long stretch. The cover is a heavy (but soft) canvas which is important if you have a dog who likes to scratch and nest - mine do. It remains to be seen if they'll like them, but I suspect they will. Both my poochies are nearly 11 and one just went blind from diabetic cataracts. Their old beds have seen better days and we decided that they should have something really comfortable in their senior years. I have to say that I'm really impressed with these beds. In addition to these beds we purchased two others from another mfg and not from Kohls. Although these other beds were fairly expensive as well, the quality is not nearly as good as these Carolina beds, which are beautifully made, inside and out. No hanging threads, no open seams. The second after I assembled the first bed, honestly I felt like laying down on it myself, that's how comfy it feels and how inviting it looks. I am a little concerned about my blind dog - although he’s acclimated wonderfully in general, having a new bed he can’t see may confuse him. It may seem like a small thing, but everything new for a blind dog can be problematic. They’ve never had bolster beds before, so it’s going to be a new experience for both of them. For now, I give these beds a 4 star review pending how my dogs react to them. If they like them, then it’s a 5 star review all around. 03/15/2012
