Rated 5 out of 5Â by Jeahnoh Great quality and price-but not an authentic goban
The board is beautiful and so are the stones. The boxes that hold the stone have a nice felt like material. The quality is great especially for a travel based go board. It is nothing like an authentic goban however it is superior quality for a great price. For once Made-In-China is a good sticker on this board, being as the origins of the game-- however, this does not mean that it is the best quality. The rulings in the instruction book are well explained but it teaches only Japanese scoring methods only. The book is PERFECT to teach anyone how to play, and it includes diagrams of placement of stones for handicaps and diagrams as examples of certain situations such as ko and seki.
Perfect board for any new player! I suggest buying this board before you spend over twice as much for an authentic goban if you are unsure of your interests in the game!
