I bought this to use for making applesauce. We used 5 bushels of apples and it was quick and easy. It processed the skin, seeds and stems into a tidy, compact mound that was efficiently pushed out of the machine. I was worried the machine might overheat since we were using this for several hours, but I did not have any problems at all. It does take awhile to clean the strainer, however, and I did not want to let it sit in water since there was mention of rusting. So, I would recommend this if you have a large project- making applesauce, tomato sauce, etc since you do have the cleanup of the strainer.

I was looking for the meat grinder accessory for the Kitchen-Aid, and found the accessory pack. The meat grinder works as well as I hoped. It easily ground several pounds of pork shoulder very efficiently. It is easy to attach to the mixer and just as easy to disassemble and clean. I do not know how much I will use the other attachments, but the booklet provided actually did generate some ideas! I will definitely be using the meat grinder attachment regularly. Since it is so easy and efficient, I can buy less expensive whole pieces of beef, pork, and poultry and grind them myself. This will save a decent amount of money.

My Dad bought my Mom her 1st Kitchenaid stand mixe when I was 9 yrs old. At the same time he got the 3 premium attatchment groups. I grew up with these and when I got married I informed my husband that if he ever wanted to eat that these same items were as necessary to my kitchen as the stove. My favorite piece is the shredder (great for shredding large blocks of cheese). Oh yeah, my Mom's original mixer... still going strong, being used by the 3rd generation of cooks in my family 44 years later.

I have used this to slice potatoes, shred cabbage for slaw and to try to chop up cilantro. The potato slices were uneven and broken up, with many of them made into mush. It took over 20 minutes to try to get the shredder to cut up the slaw, and over 50% of it had to be taken out in big chunks. It turned it into mush as well and it was unevenly shredded with much of it coming out between the two pieces of the attachment. Finally, when you press the food into the feeder, it is so top heavy that it tips the mixer.
