I have had my stand mixer for about 4 years but use it only about 6 times a year. Recently when mixing a batch of peanut butter cookies, I noticed something white fall into the mix. It was the paint from the beater! I used to work in a high end retail cookware shop and KitchenAid never had these problems!

I've had my stand mixer for a while and for the most part I love it. But the coating started chipping off my beater so I replaced it. The new beater just came and is too long. It's obviously different from what is showing on the picture. This is messing up my baking for my son's birthday today.

I've had my mixer for at least 15 yrs. My coated beater is fine, but I always hand wash it. Could it be the dishwasher is causing the issue of flaking off, even though it says dishwasher safe? But on another note, I purchased the new KA coated beater (KFEST) with the silicone flex on the edge of the beater (not shown on this site?) It's supposed to scrape the sides better so you don't have to stop as often. Well, it makes the wet ingredients fly out the bowl, and even after incorporated say for frosting, the mixture creeps up the side of the bowl to the top. I think I scrape more with the new one. I'm not a fan, so I may return it.

Unfortunately, I agree with many of the other reviewers. I really like the mixer. We use it all the time - at least once per week. Its easy to use, appears durable and is easy to clean. We've actually been considering purchasing the commercial model. However, the tilt-head coated flat beater is definitely the weak link in the chain. The plastic cover has already started flaking off of our beater too. I'm not sure if its planned obsolesce or maybe we shouldn't have washed it in the dishwasher, but it just isn't durable. Maybe they are supposed to wear out so you have to keep buying them. Its disappointing.
