If you use your KitchenAid mixer instead of a hand mixer, then the KitchenAid 5 qt. Stand (locks into the mixer) Bowl with handle is a must! Make sure you get the correct bowl that locks into the mixer as there are others that do not. The extra bowl is a must if you are making cakes and it also calls for egg whites to be whipped. It is far easier than placing the batter in another bowl while you beat the egg whites. If you are cooking for a holiday and a recipe calls for it to be refrigerated, you can simply cover it and place it in the refrigerator. Having an additional bowl will allow you the freedom to move on to the next task at hand. I bought the extra mixer bowl for when I need to make egg whites for a recipe. The metal bowl is also great to keep cold in the refrigerator for whipping heavy cream.

I ran the brand new bowl through my dishwasher before I ever used it. It came out with rust on the rim of the bowl. My husband used a little steel wool to remove it. I used the bowl and ran it through the dishwasher again and now there is also a few small rust spots on the outside of the bowl itself. I notice that the box says it comes with a one year replacement warranty. I'll be sending it back. (I did love the handle on the bowl. It made it much easier to pour the batter.)

After 45+ years using my old KitchenAid stand mixer at least 2 to 3 times a week, it wore out. It was only a matter of days until I replaced it with the 5 qt stand mixer. This new one works even better and all my old attachments fit the new KitchenAid.
