Rated 3 out of 5Â by Roses497 Great while it worked, still usable
I loved this when I first got it. I bought the electric adapter so I'd never have to worry about batteries. :).
It stopped fully opening and closing after about 8 months. It is in a state of always a third open. It will open more sometimes, but does not fully close.
So it's just like a regular trash can now. With it being partially open all of the time I can toss stuff into it from a few feet away instead of having to be right on top of it and trigger the senors. :)
It is usable but disappointing that it failed so quickly. There is only one person in the house, so it didn't get heavy use.
But when it was working it was great and I loved it.

I had another model for years and when we moved we threw it out because it was old. But after only a month I was really missing it so I ordered this one. The stainless steel matches well with my appliances, and the Touchless lid is well made, has a large opening, and is very quiet. It's well worth the price.

We bought the earlier verrsion which lasted almost 2 years. It does get heavy usage in our family of 5. We do feel that was poor construction to have lasted that short of a time when it costs too much but we decided that we liked the style and the sanitation of the auto opener to purchase a second one. This one has a shorter top which means there is not as much to clean when the can gets overfilled. It is also quieter than the older model. We do not find it consistently stays open when you hold your hand in front. If this one does not last much longer than the first then we will not repurchase another..
Rated 1 out of 5Â by Sumrdey The lid only opened a few inches after a week!
For the week it worked fine, but then the lid was not opening completely. I thought it was a problem with the batteries, so I bought an adapter from the company. (I wanted one anyway.) About a week after receiving the adapter that we plugged into the wall, the same problem started happening. The lid would only open about 3 inches. My husband called the company today and was told the warranty was not for 6 months even though my husband read the information on the web site. Apparently, that was just a general warranty and did not apply to this trash can. My husband ended up paying about $10 for a replacement lid. The guy said the lid for this can we bought was only guaranteed for 1 month. If something is only guaranteed for one month, that tells the quality of the product is really bad.
