even the slowest setting is wicked fast, almost too fast for my liking. worked good though, too fast for cookies, but whipped my mashed potatoes great. id return it but i used it and threw away the box.

Our 40-year old Mixmaster gave up the ghost, and after much review-checking and soliciting of friends' suggestions, I decided to get both a heavy-duty stand mixer and this handheld mixer. It did a good job, but I felt that had the beaters been bigger I would have finished the job more quickly. I liked the ability to change speeds with the same hand I was using to hold the mixer. It does not, as mentioned in several reviews, maintain the setting last used, but so far has always returned to 5 when plugged in again. Not a big deal if one pays attention to what they are doing, eh?

During Chrismas baking my 17 year old hand mixer finally gave up. After some research online I decided on this one. No regrets! I love it. Thte digital speed settng is great. Only remember that after you turn it off, the mixer starts back at the last setting (in my case that was egg whites on high; not good when you start off that high with flour). I made cream cheese icing and my friends commented how fluffy and light it was. The storage bag is a geat idea! I like this mixer so much that I am getting one for my sister-in-law for her birthday. I can highly recommend this mixer.

My old mixer finally died.....cord frayed and had been trying to mix while holding the wires together....guess it'll happen when the mixer is over 10 yrs old! The new one is perfect; love all the speeds as my old one only had 3. Whipped potatos are so fluffy, kids always loved them but now even fluffier as I increase speed up to the full 10. I don't see what a problem would be at low speed as some reviews stated for say cookies; doesn't seem to be too fast but haven't tried it out on cookie batter yet. No problem inserting or releasing beaters. I always turn mixer back down to lowest speed prior to turning off so I have no problem with digital possibly starting at a higher speed - just look before you hit the power button - very simple.
