We received this gift as a Christmas present from my best friend who shares a love of sushi. My toddler daughter (now 21 mos.) also loves sushi and spends a long time playing w/this set, chopping, using the ingenious velcro chopsticks, dipping the pieces, etc. Whenever she has friends over, they are enthralled by this as well and difficult w/the sharing. The most favorite use by far seems to be that they get a kick out of "cutting" the sushi pieces w/the toy knife. Some parents have gone out and bought their toddlers this set after playing w/ours. One mom said it afforded her a leisurely meal - priceless!

(Overview) I saw this set in an educator's supply store and *had to have it*. I'm Asian and was excited to see a food play set featuring food I eat at home. Although I did buy this for my 5 year old, I do admit I enjoy playing with it too! My daughter loves vegetable sushi. She is too young to help with the preparation of the real deal, but she can make her own sushi with this set. (Pros) The sushi set helps with language development, dexterity, and is a good tool to use for counting. My daughter puts every piece back in its spot in the storage box. (Con) She had a friend over and ended up losing a piece. We can't find it and have no idea if we can order just 'back up sushi set pieces'.

My daughter loves sushi. I saw this when I was shopping online and decided I had to get it for her. She really loves this set. It velcros together so the kids can slice the sushi rolls with the wood knife. It has Velcro on the chop sticks so the can use them even if they don't know how to use chop sticks.

Like all Melissa and Doug toys, this little sushi set is ADORABLE. My son is only seven months old, so he can't really play with it yet, but he likes to chew on the pieces, and the paint has stayed intact. We got it for him for christmas, and it took everything in me to not open it early so I could play with it.
