Rated 5 out of 5Â by Ellek I call it the beast. And it's awesome.
I've never had a food processor, but I've used lots of Kitchen Aid products, like a standing mixer, blender, etc. I 'suffered' for years using a chopper instead of a food processor so I finally gave in and bought one. I couldn't be happier. It's easy to use, comes with great instructions, recipes, DVD (which I actually watched), and it's very easy to clean and I don't have a dishwasher so that says a lot, because I was worried about the blades, as I'm a bit klutzy. First use: made 2 types of nut butters, coconut butter, sorbet, and relish. I'm inspired and my cooking life will never be the same. :)

I bought this today to chop zucchini for relish. I read the directions, and pulsed with the chop blade 2 12cup batches in less than 1 hour. You just have to make sure that the pieces are 1" chunks to get the same size pieces. At first, I thought I should shred them but that did not work. (great for coleslaw though) then I got the hang of it and finished. The 2 batches have salt on them and onions were added, and they are in frig. Tomorrow I will finish the batches. Saved at least an hour and my cutting or grinding with a hand grinder takes a lot longer and doesn't look as nice.
I would buy this Cuisinart again and will check in when I do my bread and tomato sauces.

My old machine (DL 7) was still working, but the bowl and covers were starting to crack so I knew the end was near. As with so many things these days the replacement cost would be about 1/2 the price of a new machine.
I've been a little slow relearning to operate it since the feed tube is in the front, not the back as with the older models. I decided to upgrade to the Elite 12 and wow, I couldn't be more pleased. While pricey, the Elite doesn't require purchasing . additional blades(also very $$.) A simple adjustment allows 1mm. to 6mm slicing thickness. using just one blade.

I love this food processor! I'd never had a really nice one before, and decided to take the chance since Cuisinart has such a good reputation.
The first thing I processed was a large 2lb. block of Parmesan cheese with the grating blade, I figured that would be a good test since Parm. is so hard. This machine whizzed through it like a hot knife though butter!! Since then, everything I make has turned out great - guacamole, chopping vegetables for soup, finely chopping nuts and breadcrumbs, even making my own ground beef.
With heavy duty jobs, I do have to hold it in place, it will scoot across the counter a little bit, but not too badly. The extra wide feeding tube is great, but for some things I still prefer to slice the food up smaller (like the Parmesan cheese) because the processor does a better job when you start with smaller pieces.
I bought the white, and love it. The whole thing cleans up very easily, and the parts can go in the dishwasher. The blades are extremely sharp, so be careful! Get a small box to put in the cabinet for storing all the accessories together, so you don't accidently cut yourself (speaking from experience).
I don't use the small bowl as often as I thought I would. The base is very very heavy, but that's because of the heavy duty motor in there - I put mine away in the cabinet instead of leaving it on the counter, so that's why I really notice the weight. And it can be a little tricky to make sure the pushing tube is in correctly (if it's not correct, a safety feature keeps it from turning on.)
I don't use this for dough - I use my Kitchenaid mixer for that, so I can't speak to this processor's capabilities there.
Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase. I've been very happy with Cuisinart customer service, as well, for replacing broken pieces in the past with another appliance, so I know this will last for a long time. If you're looking for a serious machine, this is the one.
