The gate was a little short for the opening of our stairwell, but the extension made it doable. The gate was easy to install and adjust. It looks nice, and I really like the feature that allows the gate door to stay open. We leave the door open after we put our little one to bed. It's also nice because there is an auto-shutting feature that closes the gate tight when you walk through so I don't have to worry about whether I closed it tight enough. The gate also swings two ways so it doesn't matter which direction you are coming from--it's easy open, easy close.

Our grandson just turned 1 and is very curious. He never liked his playpen, so we purchased a larger play yard for the inside of the house and it worked fine. But as this little guy is beginning to walk, my daughter & her husband needed to block off single doorways. We bought two, the extended gate option worked out great... If they were not included, the gates would not have worked in their apartment. The gates are sturdy, open easily and keeps the little guy safe. Our son and wife, are expecting their first baby this fall and we going to purchase this product for them...

Purchased 2 of these for my son and his wife to use at their house with a baby on the way. Right now they have two little dogs and the gates are wonderful to keep them in/out of rooms. There was a two year old visiting and he was unable to open the gate. Glad he was there at the same time I was as I watched him try to do so. My son installed the gates in a matter of minutes and looks like they will be needing a couple more for the baby's room and their bedroom. The gate is attractive and well worth buying. Everyone is happy with the gates!

This is the best gate we have ever owned. Before this, we have only used the big honkin plastic things that you have to remove if you want to get by. This keeps my baby from hurling herself down the stairs and is very sturdy and easy to use. This probably goes without saying, but if you have older children esp. boys, don't let them play with the gate, and swing on the gate, and hit it back and forth. It can wear the lock down. We have an older version of the gate which we got from a rummage sale, and the locking mechanism is more worn down because of my ding-bat son. Also, don't fall on it because it won't catch you. I fell on my gate after tripping and down it went. But that's not the gate's fault of course. It's my parent's fault for not giving me dance lessons.
