The grind and brew feature allows you have have fresh ground coffee in one step. Love that! The thermal pot is a nice feature idea, keeping the coffee warm without having the burner on warm all the time. We didn't think the thermal feature kept the coffee as warm, for as long, as the burner, but I guess that depends how many people you have drinking the coffee. (there are just 2 of us). After 3 months, the coffee pot brewed only 4 cups at a time and then shut off. We thought we may have accidently pushed the 1-4 cups option, but after a week of brewing determined something is malfunctioning. I will be returning it and will probably replace it with the glass carafe 12 cup grind and brew.

Although the coffee tastes great and the carafe keeps the coffee hot for hours, the machine is poorly designed. We don't even use the grind and brew option (which was the reason we bought this machine) because the steam causes a buildup of grounds, requiring regular and fussy cleaning. Most disappointing though is the lid, which has a vacuum seal that is nearly impossible to remove at times. We have had the machine for about a year and the seal is now to the point that it's also difficult to put the lid on. I love having a carafe but not happy that it has to be replaced every 9-12 months.

This coffee maker makes excellent coffee... however it is extremely high maintenance! The grinder constantly has to be cleaned or it will plug up, maybe due to moisture accumulation with the steam buildup. It does come with a tool to clean the grinder shoot.... but it is very annoying. You have to basically disassemble the entire thing to clean it. The quality of coffee is consistent on any setting, and the carafe keeps the coffee hot, but it does get stronger as it sits. After less than 1 year the pump just quit and it would no longer make coffee at all. I threw the unit out.

I thought a 10 cup would not be sufficient, but it turns out we are not wasting as much now. I was skeptical about the blade grinder (vs. burr grinder) but it works very well, and cleanup is so much easier. Actually the cleanup of the whole machine takes only a few minutes. Why do people complain about having to clean it? You take a shower everyday, don't you? The coffee tastes superb. I have no trouble with the pour spout. The goldtone filter is amazing (no more paper for me!) And with the awesome Kohl's sale price and rebate it was literally a steal!
