High maintenance. Cleaning requires removing and washing seven pieces, and you must wash it after every use or it clogs up. The many little ridges and crevices make it impossible to towel dry completely so it needs to air dry. The bean hopper is too small for enough beans to brew a full pot. By cleaning it right after breakfast and leaving the pieces out to dry, I can put it together at night, fill the hopper and add 6 cups water. In the morning I push the 1-4 cups and press on. This gives 3 cups of moderately strong, hot coffee. This grind and brew requires way more effort than my old one (different brand) for the same quality of coffee.

This is the 2nd Cuisnart coffee maker we have owned. The first lasted 10 years. Since we were so pleased with that one we ordered the exact same kind as we love the coffee grind feature. Unfortunately this one leaves coffee ground residue in the coffee pot which effects the quality of taste.

The grind and brew feature allows you have have fresh ground coffee in one step. Love that! The thermal pot is a nice feature idea, keeping the coffee warm without having the burner on warm all the time. We didn't think the thermal feature kept the coffee as warm, for as long, as the burner, but I guess that depends how many people you have drinking the coffee. (there are just 2 of us). After 3 months, the coffee pot brewed only 4 cups at a time and then shut off. We thought we may have accidently pushed the 1-4 cups option, but after a week of brewing determined something is malfunctioning. I will be returning it and will probably replace it with the glass carafe 12 cup grind and brew.

Although the coffee tastes great and the carafe keeps the coffee hot for hours, the machine is poorly designed. We don't even use the grind and brew option (which was the reason we bought this machine) because the steam causes a buildup of grounds, requiring regular and fussy cleaning. Most disappointing though is the lid, which has a vacuum seal that is nearly impossible to remove at times. We have had the machine for about a year and the seal is now to the point that it's also difficult to put the lid on. I love having a carafe but not happy that it has to be replaced every 9-12 months.
