This was a birthday gift. The only purpose was to grind my own meats. All it does is mash meat and stop after a minute because of the build up of fat, muscle and grizzle. Have to take it apart to pry off glop just to have to do it again and again. Tried with beef and then pork with same results. There are grey pieces of meat dispersed among ground meat Very disappointed with this, even though have 2 mixers that are are by far the best I have used. One mixer was my mom's dating back from 1958 and still runs like a top and my newest is 20 years old in excellent condition.

If you're thinking about getting this to grind meat, don't. It is pure junk. Perhaps it might grind other things but it does not grind meat. Spend a few more dollars and buy a quality all metal grinder.

I LOVE my Kitchen Aid stand mixer. I use it all the time for baking and cooking. For that purpose it works great. However, I have purchased the meat/food grinder attachement. My intention was to make homemade ground beef pattys for burgers. The machine will not grind the steak or roast to burger. It gets clogged right away. Even worse that the few bits of ground burger that make it out are coated in black greese from the axle. This machine is not cut out for use as a food grinder. I'm very unhappy with this aspect. More so disappointed. Much of my reason to invest in Kitchen Aid was because of the various accessories compatable with the machine.

I love the grinder. The problem is, with a company that makes such a superior Standmixer, I have had to replace the grinder twice, and shredder twice. They crack easily and at the cost of them, they are not a good buy. I just purchased one of your vintage grinders that is made of aluminum and wonder why you changed the aluminum to plastic. The plastic ones aren't any good. As for the shredder, I decided to go with a cheaper brand food processor instead of purchasing a 3rd one. I love my Kitchen Aid and have bought one for both of my kids because they are excellent. But advised them that the accessories aren't worth the money. Sorry.
