This vacuum worked great the first three times I used it. Then, it broke. I have read that this is not so uncommon with this vacuum. But, I determined to give it a second chance and exchanged it for a new one. The new one, was in factory packaging, but when I opened it, there was electrical tape on the cord. Mystified, I pulled off the electrical tape and found a damaged cord. Since no customer could package a vacuum that perfectly, I must conclude that someone at Hoover just covered the damaged cord with electrical tape and called it good. Really unimpressive in my opinion.

This is my second Hoover self propelled wind tunnel. My other is 11 years old and still works fine. Now it is for upstairs and the new one is for downstairs. It has great suction, and the self propelled function makes it easy to use. It is definitely worth the extra cost to get self propelled. The new one has some user friendly improvements, but same Hoover quality. Also I like the fact that it has bags. They are hepa filtered and when full just take out and throw away. I know the bagless vacuums are trendy now, but emptying and cleaning the filter is a hassle in my opinion.

For as much as you can like a vacuum cleaner, I do like this one very much. We tried bagless and just didn't like the mess of cleaning the canister and filters constantly. I got this when I had a great coupon so it made it a great deal. I was hesitant to try a self propelled because I have tried them in the past and found them really hard to control. But this one is very east to control (it has a switch to turn off the self propelled feature but it is darn near impossible to push if you do that). It also cleans like a hoover and that is the best feature.
