Rated 5 out of 5 by 2 year old loves it, and so do the parents! My husband and I help put the foam pieces together and 2 year old hammers or drills them into place. He has a blast, and honestly, so do we.no, they do not stay together very well, we just teach him to be gentle with them. As others have noted, in order to make another design you usually have to disassemble others. not a problem for us, but if there are more children playing it would be a problem. he loves the drill, ran out of batteries by the second day, he's used it THAT much. 01/22/2016
Rated 3 out of 5 Where is a work bench for toddlers?!?! Overall, we were pleased with the realistic nature of the bench & wooden pieces and the overall quality of the items. Although the "wooden" pieces have many blueprints of projects for toddlers to make, the bench itself is quite small in height for our 3 & almost 5 year-old sons. The bench doesn't have ample storage for all of the "wooden" pieces which I dislike. I would like to see a bigger bench for toddler-aged children. There isn't one out there-this is the closest we found. Finally, the drill that came with the set didn't work when we opened it Christmas day, so our sons had to wait for a replacement drill to play with their present. 12/28/2007
Rated 5 out of 5 by Only one minor issue with the drill This toy went together very easily. There are 2 small screws to hold the vice. The rest of the pieces snap into each other. I had seen reviews about issues with the drill not working before I ordered this item. Sure enough, after pushing the trigger just a couple of times and ensuring the batteries were brand new, the drill stopped working. My son, an electrical engineer, opened up the drill to troubleshoot the issue. There is a small piece of plastic that keeps the batteries from making good contact. It looks like the batteries and the door hinge should be reversed during a redesign by Step 2.Once the small piece was removed (one of the screws in the drill handle holds it in place) the drill worked fine. This is a design issue for Step2, but buyers can easily remove the piece so the drill works. My son did suggest that a small piece of aluminum foil or paper may be needed to keep the batteries from touching each other. 12/24/2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Tool Time Fun! This was a last minute Easter gift for my youngest child (18m). Shipment was so fast, we were shocked that it arrived in time for the holiday. Workshop was quick to assemble, the kids were playing with it almost immediately. I love the fact that it is a space saver, and has a built-in drawer and open shelf for the storage of its own pieces. Although its recommended for 3+, our youngest has no problem interlocking the wood pieces and using the tools. The older kids are able to build the intricate shapes using the blueprints, and they have a lot of fun making them. Glad we decided on this last minute gift. Thank you Step2 for your outstanding customer service! 04/21/2014
