Rated 3 out of 5 by from Could be better Wear these everyday for a year now for both work and casual duty. Great for flat feet but calf is a bit wide for me. Leather is thick and durable, soles and stitching have held up well. Worst part is the complete lack of breath-ability. The waterproofing keeps water out but my feet are soaked after work, socks are visibly wet. Even after a couple hours wearing them around the house I can feel my feet getting damp with sweat. The eyelets all had sharp burrs on them that shredded the original laces after a week. Had to file off the edges and use paracord for laces. Not a deal breaker for me though. Decent enough boot for the price. Looks good too. Would buy another pair if Hi Tec can improve the ventilation.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Satisfied With My Purchase I looked for a tactical boot made by Hi- Tec, but all that I found were more than what I wanted, so I came across the advertisement for the Altitude V, and they were within a price range that was alright with me and I chose to try them out. When I got them they were comfortable and rugged, but still casual. I could wear them for numerous reasons and I figured that they would last as long as I take care of them. They weren't too expensive and I needed some versatile footwear, so I was glad that I made the purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tough all around boot for all conditions I purchased a pair of the Altitude V boots specifically for a trek of Kilimanjaro. I put them to the test during my break in period: rain, snow, mud, creeks & hiking. They are comfortable and truly waterproof, probably the best waterproof boot I have ever owned period. I was extremely pleased with them so I used them for my climb of Kilimanjaro in Africa.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Doesn't last with regular use I've worn hi tec altitude shoes for several years now, mostly as a work boot with occasional hiking as well. I'm very happy with the level of comfort they deliver while still protecting my feet from the elements. I also like the outstanding traction they deliver while working on a roof. However, I have been really disappointed with the poor quality of the altitude V. I've owned a few pairs and they all fall apart within a few months for no particular reason. Granted I do wear them every day for work but I simply don't give them the hard use that would justify wearing out so quickly. They simply fall apart, with the upper separating from the sole particularly in the toe area. The uppers also develop holes around the toe area. These are great for occasional hiking but they just aren't built for regular use.
