Rated 4 out of 5 by from taper candles look real, but they are too thick I ordered the red taper candles, they look very realistic, with a 'lower' "flame' that makes it look very real. However, the clear, soft ridged band at the bottom, made to keep thye candle fitting snugly in a taper holder is too thick. I have Waterford taper holders, 2 different types, and the candles fit in neither. I finally took a razor, and trimmed most of that ridge off, until they did fit, but they don't stand straight as well as I had hoped. But, wrapped some saran wrap, and that seemed top solve the problem. I'd tell anyone to buy them,. but know you may have to get inventive to get them in a candle stick holder, at least Waterford ones.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 1st experience with batt. op. tapers These were on sale and because Kohl's return policy is fantastic, I bought three sets. They look fairly real and feel waxy----both good things! From a previous review, I knew that these may not sit well in a candle stick. My candle sticks are frosted glass from cb2 and real taper candles did not stay straight in them----these flameless tapers sit perfectly! So yes, I do think the base of the taper is a tad wider than real tapers. The base fits so snug in the candle stick that I only have to turn the taper to turn it on or off (and not have to lift the taper out of the candle stick to do so.) I love the way these look in dimmed light and day light. I think they look a little fake if it's really dark. I won't be using these in very low light so the fake glow isn't a problem for me. I included a photo of the base of the candle. I have never had a battery operated taper and my other flameless candles have a remote, so seeing this was a first for me. To insert batteries and turn the candle on and off, just turn the translucent base.
