Rated 5 out of 5 by Get's the job done This is an example of a straight forward product that does what it is intended to do at a low price point. Makes appropriately hot coffee of approximately 24 ounces max at a time (about two mugs worth). If that's what you need done, then this will do it. No bells and whistles (and yes, you do need to remember to turn the machine off as there is no auto shutoff). For best results one should use the smaller basket style filters, although if you happen to only have the larger (conventional - 8 to 12 - cup variety) they will also work. 12/06/2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by OK except design as a 4-cup coffee maker goes this would be OK except the design is perplexing and one needs to know 1) the cord is exceptionally short - all of 18 inches and comes out from the back on the right side of the pot. So if you have an outlet on the left side of the pot any where further than the meager 18 inches, then well, it just is not going to make it. 2) the foot print is larger than you would expect from the picture because the bottom plastic base flares out for no apparent reason than the designers thought it was cute. So if you are truly wanting a small footprint, be prepared to give up an extra 2 inches. Another brand with the on/off switch on the side offers a cord and base that makes more sense. 12/10/2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Poor design This coffee pot was meant to be cheap and easy. Unfortunately it is and it isn't a good value. This coffee pot could benefit from a conical filter, sturdier top cover and an adjustable temp heat-plate or at the very least slightly cooler heat-plate. My biggest gripe is the heat-plate, it is so hot that my coffee tastes burnt if I leave it in the carafe for more than 5 minutes. I don't think the heat plate even has a timer or anything. I bought the mr. coffee product because I had a 5 cup mr. coffee pot that lasted years but had a broken top cover and now I'm wishing I never threw that pot out. 11/18/2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by I hate it. I had a Krups 4-cup drip coffeemaker for almost 10 years before it started to leak. I loved it. But Krups no longer makes 4-cup drip coffeemakers. So I bought the Mr. Coffee DR4. I hate it. First, a Mr. Coffee "cup" is only 5 ounces, smaller than the Krups "cup." The DR4 is so poorly designed, I cannot believe it. The neck of the carafe is so much narrower than the body that you have to turn it completely upside down to pour all the water in, making it very awkward. And to pour all the hot coffee out, again you have the turn it completely upside down. I have burned my hand from the escaping steam. I hate this coffeemaker. 10/12/2014
