I have to say I wanted to like this unit. The features are good, I liked the console set up. The problem was the outdoor temperature readings. There is solar powered aspirating fan inside the sensor unit that is supposed to keep air flow over the sensor. The fan might come on, then again it might not. If it didn't come on the sensor case would heat up and temp readings would spike. I purchased a different sensor unit (two solar cell unit). That one failed after two weeks. Check out the AcuRite web site forum and you will find many examples of this problem. I had to return the unit.

this item replaces a competitors model and is so far superior there is no comparison. It is bright, has beautiful displays, seems to be very accurate and gives me everything I was looking for, wind, rain, temps, humidity and barometric pressure. I researched a number of models and manufacturers before making my selection and I know I made the right choice. If I had one complaint it would be the display on the computer monitor. It is boring. if they could make it similar to the unit display, complete with history the value would increase in my eyes significantly. Unfortunately unit you buy and install it you do not see what is going to be displayed on the computer monitor.

I bought this for my husband for Christmas. He loves gadgets and this one was no exception. Got it mounted to the roof, now it broadcasts everything happening right in our own yard. He hooked it up to the computer so we now are on a weather reporting app as well as hookups to both of our phones so we can see how much rain/wind etc. we are getting at home when we are away.
The monitor indoors is bright and you can read it easily. Great gift idea.

In the interest of full disclosure, this is the second unit I had. The first failed in the rain measurement area by being wildly inconsistent. This unit however appears to have that problem solved. It has been active for about one month, and has been within specified accuracy on all variables that could be confirmed. That includes temp, rainfall, humidity, and inside temp and humidity. I have no way of confirming the wind speed, but it agrees with the Oregon scientific unit of a neighbor. One of the nice things is the calibration procedures available on-line from AcuRite. As had been said by others, the "color" display is actually a film on the display, with a monochrome active display beneath the film. No problem, still looks great. I have not tried the computer interface yet.
