Thank you to those who suggested pulling down the plastic piece by the needle. I too was having issues with my k-cup with it leaking water everywhere and getting coffee grounds in my coffee, but after pulling the plastic piece down there was no water leakage, no coffee grounds in my coffee, and a stronger cup of coffee. My only complaint is I wish I could put more coffee in it because I love a strong cup of coffee but that was also my complain with the pre-packaged k-cups as well. For the most part I love my keurig because it is very convenient and now with this my k-cup for cost effective!!!

I've had my Keurig for 5 years now and it came with it. I've since acquired a second My K-Cup about a year ago. These work perfectly and I much prefer my own blends that I grind and spoon into the basket. I drink 2-4 cups per day and these are easy to clean in-between brewing. Tap the base against the basket overtop an old coffee can and rinse over the sink with cold water (not the disposal though!). Then I take the used grinds and dump them into the flower bed :)

Lots of folks have issues with leaking and weak coffee because there aren't any good instructions. If you like the Kcups, and make a 10 oz. cup, grind your coffee a little courser than espresso (drip).Fill the filter up to the bottom of the "rim" at the top using a spoon. Put on the lid. Before inserting the gray unit, find in the top of the 'clamshell' on the brewer the needle that pierces the normal Kcups. Carefully make sure that the little rubber "sock" around it is slid down a bit to cover more of the needle. Careful, the needle is sharp. Now, make your 10 oz. cup as normal. You'll love it!

First I would like to say a huge THANK YOU to all of the ingenious previous posters for the washer adjustment trick! It worked like a charm! I, too, had the aforementioned horror stories from my first attempt at using the my k-cup. I tried various adjustments which I won't go into - all to no avail. Then, I read about adjusting the washer on the machine and voila - a great cup of home ground, fresh coffee. I do agree that they should either include an additional washer with the purchase of the my k-cup OR do the most logical thing and install the proper size washer on the brewer in the factory!
