This is my first Dyson purchase and I am amazed with this vacumn.
First would be the excellent pickup. When first used I was amazed of the debris it picked up that had been left behind by my previous vacumn even though it was ran often.
The Dyson even lifted up compacted pile on my carpeted areas.
Also another perk is the ease of going from carpet to hardwood with just the push of a button.
Secondly would be the extremely easy handling straight forward and around objects as it maneuvers as if it were self propelled.
Third would be the canister collection system as well as the ease of disposing the dust etc.
Keep up the EXCELLENT work Dyson!

I have only had my DC65 Animal for a month or so, but it blows my old vacuum out of the water. I have a Golden Retriever and a German Shepherd, and the difference between what I thought I was picking up with my old vacuum and what I pick up with my new Dyson is both incredible and disgusting. My dad has a Dyson, so I knew they worked well, but I was hesitant make an investment in a Dyson (especially since I thought my old vacuum was doing a fine job on its own). Do yourself a favor: make the investment. The time you save from only needing to go over your floors once and the amount of hair, dander, and dirt you pick up is well-worth the price.

I thought about purchasing a Dyson for several years but found them to be expensive. I have a white-boxer who loses hair every second of the day. I find hair from bunches to even one piece of hair anywhere in my house. The Dyson 65 has done an excellent job in removing at least 85% of the hair. The missing 15% is due to the fact that my boxer's hair is fine and short. I am impressed with this machine but I wish the upright position would lock-in securely without my having to check it each time. I am also worried the handle once the vacuum is upright will break. The plastic doesn't seem strong enough. This concerns me, but overall I am satisfied.

I had purchased the original Dyson animal many, many years ago. I absolutely loved it. When it finally wore out, I (stupidly) purchased a different brand to save $$. It only lasted two years. I purchased a Dyson DC65 (animal) a few weeks ago. I had forgotten how good it is. I have horses and large hairy dogs, and this does an amazing job of getting the hair out of the carpets. The only negative that I have found on it is that the mechanism that keeps the upright locked into position doesn't hold well. The handle portion frequently falls to the floor in the storage closet. I can live with that small issue to get such clean carpets :)
