Rated 2 out of 5 by Farberware has cut the quality of this product. A Farberware rep said they changed from 18/10 stainless to 18/0 stainless in order to have magnetic steel on the bottom of the pans. Pans must be made of a magnetic material in order to be used on an Induction cook surface. The 18/10 designation means the steel has 18% chrome and 10% nickel in the alloy [300 series stainless]. The 18/0 has 18% chrome and 0% nickel [400 series stainless]. The 18/10 is non magnetic; the 18/0 is magnetic. So now you can use the Farberware pans on Induction cook tops. But here is the price you pay for that change -- at least the way Farberware did it. Both these alloys are corrosion resistant compared to regular steel. But by taking the nickel out of the stainless steel they previously used, the pots will now corrode much faster and lose their bright/shiny appearance - compared to 18/10. If you cook with corrosive foods/ingredients such as salt or tomatoes or vinegar, you will see evidence of corrosion inside the pots almost immediately. I took one of the new pots and boiled salt water for 15 minutes and then allowed it to sit to cool for 15 more minutes. The result was a pot with significant corrosion spots on the inside of the pan. This is after only one use! Here is what their competition does to get around this problem. They get their ability to cook on Induction tops by using the 18/0 stainless on the outside of the bottom. And they use 18/8 stainless on the inside of the pot -- thereby eliminating the corrosion problem I noted above. Now 18/0 is cheaper than 18/10 stainless, so that may have been a motive for Farberware to use all 18/0, rather than the two different alloys. Even though this set is called "Farberware Classic Series 15-pc. Stainless Steel Cookware Set", the fry pans are aluminum. Expect the exterior surface to stain quickly. What their competition does to keep the exterior surface looking good is to hard anodize the exterior sides of the aluminum fry pans. Farberware does not. The cookie sheet is quite small. The 3-pc spoons and turner set are very cheaply made. They bend too easily and melt if you use them in a hot pan. They are throw aways! 12/23/2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by BEST VALUE FOR THE MONEY We looked at all of the cookware at Kohls ...spent 2 hours looking at each set and comparing what they offer and style....we finally decided on this set and have been very pleased and happy with it..only thing that we dont like is the handles are small..on the 2qt the handle is just right but the larger you get on the pots the handles are just not big enough to handle the weight..but still very happy with the decision we make.. 06/14/2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great Pots I have had a Farberware set for 30 years and it is like new. If I cook something that sticks to the bottom I only need to fill the pan with soapy water and soak it for a while and it comes out sparkling again. I would have given this set all excellent marks except I don't care for the non stick frying pans. I wish they made this set with the stainless frying pans. 04/19/2011
Rated 4 out of 5 by Love the pots Pots are a good quality product. The skillets lack quality on the outside of the pan. After a few uses the skillets look years old. They no longer are shiny. 03/18/2011
